The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about what's in the food your dog is eating, here's your opportunity.

Understanding Ingredients

Understanding the ingredients of your dog's food is a must for dog lovers/owners. Whenever you feed your dog with different kinds of food items, always read the label and understand the contents about the dog food types that are being used in such commercial preparations.

Food items include dry and fresh food. The fresh dog food that is prepared in homes generally consists of ingredients like freshly cut chicken pieces in addition to the cranberry juices, blue-green algae, etc.

Beet pulp, pasta, Soy bean oil, wheat middlings, calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, copper sulphate, iron sulphate, zinc oxide, choline chloride, etc. are often the ingredients of vegetarian based diets for your dog.

(If you come across different kinds of preservatives, and if the dog develops sudden signs of food allergy, suspect the unwanted ingredient in the food items given.)

Raw egg, chicken, beef, mutton, fish, quail etc. are often the preferred ingredients of dog diets that are prepared as non-vegetarian items.

Taurine is one of the essential ingredients for your dog's nutrition.

In the case of dog food with frozen fish items, thiamine needs to be supplemented as an ingredient.

Many premium types of dog food contain essential fatty acids, carbohydrates with adequate fiber contents, and, vitamins like A, D, E and B complex.

The cost of those foods are comparatively more expensive than the food with general ingredients. Though it may be better for your dog's health.

Furthermore, minerals like zinc, are an essential ingredient for skin health.

Calcium, which is an essential ingredient for bone growth, and tonicity of muscles, should be present as well.
