When a dog resorts to aggressive behavior during training it's very difficult for the trainer to continue his/her job. Training an aggressive dog becomes both a challenge and a big responsibility on the part of the trainer. There are several reasons which may cause aggressive behavior in dogs.
The first thing you need to do is, to isolate the cause of the issue. Check for any wounds or injuries in your dog's body because the wounds may cause irritation which may lead to aggression. You can either survey the body yourself or take it to a vet who can examine it more closely. Mention should be made about the fact that training an aggressive dog in a special centre doesn't eliminate the entire problem.
As I said before you train the aggressive dog try to pin down the issue and identify what is causing the unruly behavior.
Sometimes it's due to dominance found in the relationship with its family. Your dog might have a negative feeling about other animals or sometimes it might over-protect you when considering the owner (you) as its personal territory. Your aim should always to improve the trust level in your relationship with your dog. The dog must feel secure in your company. As it begins to trust you more and more the aggressive behavior will start to diminish and it will learn to socialize with other people and even other dogs.
If your pet has shown some aggression on one of your family members then you may need some professional help to train the dog. It's important not to lose trust in your dog it's very hard to keep it going but a lot will depend on how much you trust the dog and vice-versa. Some people just give up their dogs once they find it showing aggressive behavior. Even after undergoing a professional training it may be difficult for you to trust your dog but do not leave it alone. Your pet needs to know you still care for it.
So in order to improve the trust level the owner has to play an active part in training the aggressive dog, since progress can be witnessed gradually and trust regained without any preconceived notions.
It's important to remember that dogs learn by associations, for instance if it is used to showing aggression when it is about to leave the house with you it will stick to this behavioral pattern. Therefore the owner's presence during the training of an aggressive dog is very important. Consistency is the key word for the training of an aggressive dog, don't repeat the same mistakes and don't change your attitudes abruptly!
