From yorkshire terriers to any breed of puppy or age of dog, dogs love to have fun. Have a bored pet at home that needs some excitement in their life? Well here are three great and easy ways to put a little excitement in your dogs life! These activites are quick and painless. Make your dog or puppies day by simply taking a couple minutes out of your day to do these activities with them.
Here are the activites:
1. Hide and seek
2. Hide the treats
3. Which hand is it?
How to play the games:
Hide and seek
tell your dog to stay put while you go hide. Make sure your dog doesnt see where you hide... some dogs like to cheat, so make sure you have them stay in a seperate room from where you are hiding. Go hide and call your pet. Your pet will come bareling through the house to find you. Keep calling your pet to keep the dogs interest. When they have found you be sure to praise the dog and give them a treat.
Hide the treats
get a handfull of treats, or break apart a treat into smaller pieces. Show the handfull of treats to your dog and tell it to stay in a seperate room from where you will be hiding the treats. If this is your dogs first time playing this, be sure to hide the treats in low areas where they can easily find them. Encourage the dog to find the treats by pointing out a couple of them. Your dog will eventually get the drift and start sniffing them out. Depending on how smart your dog is, after a couple of games you can start hiding the treats in more difficult spots such as on top of chairs or under things. It is always funny to see them using their paws to knock off treats from higher spots or dig them out from under things.
Which hand is it?
Sit in front of your dog. Show them a handfull of treats and put the treats behind you. Put a treat in one of your hands and make fists. Put your fists out in front of you and have your dog either paw or use their nose to guess which hand has the treat. If they dont get it, open the other one and show them that it was in that hand. Put your hands back behind your back and bring them back out. Your dog should go for the hand that it previosly saw or found the treat in. Some dogs may understand the game and some might not, either way they still enjoy sniffing them out or pawing at your hand to guess. It is always fun to see them guess.
Well there you have it, a couple of games to spice up your dogs life. Use with precaution because they might prove to be so fun for you to do that you end up taking out a couple of hours out of your day instead of minutes. A happy dog is an entertained one.
